Did you know that there are some cities, in the United States and Canada, not just in third world countries, that can't drink water from their taps? It's true. For whatever reason there are cities, perhaps even the ones you live in, that have unsafe drinking water going to the taps of their homes. Statistics show that there are 30,000 deaths occurring on a daily basis all over the globe due to diseases related to drinking water. Developed nations blame 80% of their illnesses to contaminated water.

It must make you feel pretty happy and relieved knowing that you can drink the water from the taps in your own homes. Or at least we would like to think that we can trust the water coming out of our taps to be safe to drink. Sometimes though that's just not the case. Whenever there's unsafe drinking water there's usually a water advisory warning sent from the government to the public to let them know that the water in the tap of their area is unsafe. That's what responsible governments who are looking out for the best interests of their citizens do.

However, that doesn't mean you can't also be extra careful and test the water yourself, even if there isn't an unsafe water advisory warning placed. You can never be too careful when it comes to your health and safety and the health and safety of your family. If you feel like testing your water for such things as metal, just to give yourself some peace of mind then you should go right on ahead and do so.

Testing for metals in your water is a common test that home owners can do to ensure the water coming out of their taps in is safe. You can pick up an affordable and convenient home water test kit that will test your water for in addition to metals, bacteria such as E.coli, nitrates, nitrites, chlorine, pesticides, hardness and pH levels. The danger of contaminated water in your taps is that you can't smell, see or taste most contaminants so you don't really know whether or not your water is contaminated, which is very dangerous. That's why you really need to get your home water tested. Again, if this is not something you are comfortable doing yourself you can hire an experienced company to do it, or speak to professionals about what sort of treatment and prevention is being used today to keep harmful chemicals and metals out of our water. If you want to go the test kit do it yourself route, may we suggest these.
